A team from GeneratorNZ have taken up the challenge to run the ASB Auckland Half Marathon in stride for the Amputee Society of Auckland and Northland Incorporated, as this is a non government funded society.
The Amputee society is a foundation that provides information & support for the wellbeing of those affected by amputation. Amputation comes with a ripple effect on all amputees & their families. All donations that go towards a foundation that is able to provide support goes a long way.
"Support can mean many things to amputees, their families and carers. Amputees
who are members of an Amputee Society benefit in various ways, but most commonly by the
encouragement and companionship provided by fellow amputees.
Trained volunteers are available to talk with individuals through NZALS Peer Support, our main source of income is subscriptions."

This is something that hits close to home for me as my father lost his leg earlier this year from a terrible hiking accident back in 2018 after falling 15m down, resulting in the loss of his leg after 3 1/2 years of trying to save it.
Use of funds
Projects are funded by grants & donations - non government funded.
Funds raised by Generator NZ will be used to send delegates and observers to Federation
Conference in Wellington 2022 or to encourage our members to undertake the Peer
Support Trainings
