Amy and Janek Fraser and family are going through a difficult time while they deal with and help with Amy's recovery from a stroke
Auckland
On Friday 25th of March Amy Fraser woke up with a severe headache and vomiting. She was rushed to Waitakere hospital where she was then rushed to Auckland hospital in an ambulance and was put in the high dependency unit. The doctors so far have told the family that Amy has had an intracranial bleed caused from a blood clot which has caused a stroke. By the time they got to Auckland hospital she had lost all feeling on her left side but has regained feeling and movement in her leg and some feeling in her arm but no movement (yet). She is going for an angiogram which will hopefully tell them what has happened and if she still has a clot or just a bleed. Once out of hospital Amy will spend some time in a physio rehab facility in Pt Chev until such time as she gets use of her arm back. The doctors are confident she will make very close if not a full recovery. While this has been taking place Janek has been at Amy's bedside with their 4 weeks old baby girl and their 3 other children. Amy and Janek's family are helping with their caring for the Kids. But with Janek taking time off work to care for Amy and Amy not been able to care for herself this is going to put a financial strain on this loving family. This page is to help them through this trying time.
My family and I are close friend with Janek and Amy and both of their Family's. My husband and I have a young daughter and know how this would affect us financially if we were in this situation. This is our way to help them through this difficult time.
Amy's road to recovery 10 April 2016
Amy is currently in Waitakere Hospital awaiting a place in a rehab centre.
The doctors are wanting to do another MRI. Amy has been diagnosed with cerebral cranial vascular contriction disease. This should be able to be managed with medication. She is up walking now but needs rehab to work on her arm.
Janek and Amy really appreciate all the support shown at this trying time.
