We're grateful to share that Ellise successfully underwent her second major neurosurgery on August 17th. Her recovery from this was astounding, and she continues to show incredible strength and resilience.

While her surgical recovery was encouraging, her medical team advised further treatment was necessary to ensure the best possible outcome. Starting on September 18th, Ellise began a grueling, but crucial, seven-week regimen of radiotherapy.

Ellise is now a halfway through her radiotherapy treatments. Ellise is really positive about her appointments and treatments, there is an incredible team trying to make them fun for her. Ellise counts down the days with a sticker chart and selects a bead of courage daily. Despite all this positivity, the treatments and daily general anesthetics are starting to take a big toll. Ellise is experiencing tiredness, nausea, weight loss, hair loss, and sensitivity and mood changes.

The family is currently living apart, with Brent and Archie mostly at home while Ellise and Abby stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland. This separation has been challenging, but they are determined to do whatever it takes to support Ellise through her journey.

The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support they have received so far, and they are truly grateful for any assistance offered. Your kindness and generosity provide not only financial relief but also a source of strength, hope, and comfort during these trying times.

  • Update from Abby

      24 July 2023

    Hey team,

In the last few weeks we have found out Ellise has a large 8cmx8cm brain tumour and underwent emergency neurosurgery for it. She went from seemingly happy and healthy tamariki, to the inter-cranial pressure being so great that she would have died within a week without surgery.

Next week she will have a second neurosurgery, followed by a month of healing and then six weeks of radiotherapy.

This has been the most grueling time of our lives, and some days the love shown from you all is the only thing that’s kept us standing, we can’t express enough how grateful we are to you all, even if most days I am speechless at what we are going through and struggle at times to respond, please know that your kind words and gestures reach our hearts.

Ellise is strong and courageous and has learnt to walk again, and may have to learn to walk and talk again after this next surgery.

We will be forever grateful to the medical team who have dedicated their time to have the knowledge to treat and care for Ellise.

A special thanks to Ronald McDonald House, who understand although we never want to visit, has wrapped us in such care, and will be forever in our hearts to give back to.

We appreciate all the love you have showed us 🤍
