Ellise, a radiant, kind, caring, and loving, 4-year-old, underwent surgery on 11July to remove an 8cm tumor from the left side of her brain.

Katikati, Bay Of Plenty

Ellise, a radiant, kind, caring, and loving, 4-year-old, underwent surgery on 11 July to remove a tumor measuring 8cm by 8cm, from the left side of her brain. The shock diagnosis of this tumour was received only a few days prior to the surgery, and followed rapidly worsening symptoms of headaches, severe lethargy, right sided weakness, and slurring of speech. This unexpected turn of events has thrown Ellise, brother Archie (6), and parents Abby and Brent, into an incredibly challenging journey filled with uncertainty.

The family are awaiting results, but are preparing for a challenging and prolonged treatment plan. It is likely that a large portion of this journey will take place in Auckland, under the care of the teams at Starship Children's Hospital, taking the family away from both their home, and their local communities in Waihi, Waihi Beach, Katikati.

Together, we can make a significant difference in Ellise's life and help alleviate some of the financial strain for her family, to allow them to focus all of their energy on this journey.

With this in mind, we have launched this fundraising campaign to provide ongoing support for Ellise and her loved ones throughout her treatment. Your contribution, no matter the amount, will help to grant them the peace of mind to focus on her well-being during this critical time. However, please only contribute if you have the capacity to do so without causing any strain on your day-to-day living expenses. Thank you.

Second Surgery & Radiotherapy  19 October 2023

We're grateful to share that Ellise successfully underwent her second major neurosurgery on August 17th. Her recovery from this was astounding, and she continues to show incredible strength and resilience.

While her surgical recovery was encouraging, her medical team advised further treatment was necessary to ensure the best possible outcome. Starting on September 18th, Ellise began a grueling, but crucial, seven-week regimen of radiotherapy.

Ellise is now a halfway through her radiotherapy treatments. Ellise is really positive about her appointments and treatments, there is an incredible team trying to make them fun for her. Ellise counts down the days with a sticker chart and selects a bead of courage daily. Despite all this positivity, the treatments and daily general anesthetics are starting to take a big toll. Ellise is experiencing tiredness, nausea, weight loss, hair loss, and sensitivity and mood changes.

The family is currently living apart, with Brent and Archie mostly at home while Ellise and Abby stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Auckland. This separation has been challenging, but they are determined to do whatever it takes to support Ellise through her journey.

The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love and support they have received so far, and they are truly grateful for any assistance offered. Your kindness and generosity provide not only financial relief but also a source of strength, hope, and comfort during these trying times.
