Finally, after over 5 years in intensive care we can leave the hospital!

We have been offered a house (in Orewa) to live in so as Ana-Carolina can leave PICU with the view that we will then be able to resume a normal family life and work towards securing our own home again.

You can read more about it here https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/bring-ana-carolina-home

Here are some of my highlights from the last year. Another tough year, but there was a few fun moments.

Looking after me is a lot of work, but mum and dad love doing it, and they always make me very happy!

Both mum and dad have given up work to be at my bedside 20 hours or more every day! This makes life very tough for my family, as I need lots of things as well as daily care and three years is a long time to be in a hospital. Although we are working very hard to go home, it will take a lot of effort and we will need a lot of support. Please help us to survive until I get home :)

It has been a tough 3 years, and it will be at least another year stuck in the hospital until we get home!

Your donations have helped the family cope and assisted with allowing us to provide Ana-Carolina with many things the health system does not provide. Vitamins, supplements and we have been able to import special food from the USA.

  • 1st time outside the Starship Hospital

Our beautiful daughter Ana-Carolina had a wonderful 3rd birthday celebration on Sunday, 15th May 2016, surrounded by family and friends at the Auckland Museum in the Domain that donated this wonderful venue for her special day. She really enjoyed her first day outside the hospital and had a lovely time, enjoying the Hands Alive puppet show and the magician from Cornflake’s Magic World. A BIG THANK YOU for the generous people and friends that donated they time and services to make a magic day for our daughter, Auckland Museum, Centre of Attention Party Planning, Pukeko Pictures, Dianna Langton Photography, Sugar and Spice Cakes.

It was day of many great milestones, her first drive (since she was 5 months old), first time out of the hospital grounds, the longest she has been on the portable ventilator, her first live show, first time with lots of kids running and playing. She enjoyed it immensely and stayed calm and relaxed for over 3 hours. It was obviously exhausting as she fell asleep on the way back to this hospital almost immediately :)

We need your help to bring our daughter home! Please help us in anyway you can to make this dream come true! Without your help Ana-Carolina will not be able to see the beautiful world that is waiting for her!

    With much Love,

    Ana-Carolina and family
