Sarah and Andy are 2 of the most caring, loving people I know and this is just so unfair. Any amount will help, so please, give a little

Bay of Plenty

These amazing people need help to pay their mortgage, pay everyday bills, and keep them afloat.

They have a crappy year, like a lot of people, but this just tops it off.

Andy will be off work for a very long time and Sarah's wage won't go far at all. This is Sarahs post about Andy.

On Wednesday 18 November 2020 my whole world changed. It started with a phone call @ 2.36pm to inform me that Andy had been in an accident onsite at Edgecumbe, while helping out our mate Todd.

The initial report was that he had been knocked out by a bit of timber that broke and struck him. My thoughts were that he would be in Whakatane hospital overnight and I could take him home Thursday.

The next phone call came around 20 to 4. It was from a St John Ambulance Paramedic. She explained that Andy had been taken to Whakatane Hospital. She said he had "munted his jaw" and was being prepped to go to Waikato Hospital by helicopter. She explained that Waikato hospital had the specialists to help him. She said he would appreciate seeing me but to look after myself and drive safely.

At that point I knew it was a lot more serious.

I finally laid eyes on Andy around 5.40pm. He was laid flat on a bed in resus. He had some weight bags either side of his head and was not meant to move his head until they got clearance from any spinal damage. He had blood through his mouth and nose. He had lost teeth, cut a huge chunk from his tongue that needed stitching and his jaw was broken in 3 places.

Andy was lucky to be alive. If the timber had hit him 2 inches higher on his nose he would be dead. The Drs were amazed his neck had not broken from the impact of the 8x4 timber. Surgery was set for first thing Thursday. The day we were discharged (Friday) he failed a concussion test.

He is home now, but things are not going to be easy, especially at this time of year.

Please help me help them xx

I am Sarah and Andy's sis in law. Andy & I were the outlaws and have always had a close bond. These amazing people have been good to me and my kids and helped me when I needed it, so I want to do something to help them.

Use of funds

Funds will be used to keep a roof over their head and food on the table until Andy can return to work.
