The animals of Niue need help with supplies and costs so that they can be managed and cared for humanely and with dignity.
International
In normal times, Niue loves seeing visitors and we welcome people from all over the world to enjoy our tiny piece of paradise in the Pacific. We also welcome experts from other countries to help us keep our human and animal populations well and healthy.
Over the last 2 years, Niue has remained free from Covid-19 with very strict protocols for entry, which means we our normal veterinarians from The Rock Vets, are not able to come over and provide health care and desexing for our animals.
Niuean animals range from livestock to domestic pets as well as visiting and resident wildlife. Some need specialised care and a place to rest and recuperate. With no vets, domestic populations are out of control which not only causes issues for the animals, but it also presents problems for our local people.
Lokuloku Manu Animal Health Centre was set up to provide basic care for the animals of Niue, with the full support and guidance of The Rock Vets. We’ve had special training in emergency and ongoing preventative care and we’re in regular contact with the vets. We are volunteers, who have full time jobs and spend weekends and nights to support our neighbours and their animals.
We have no funding and spend our own wages to rescue and support the animals on the island. So now we need to ask for your help so that we can keep going with this essential service.
I am a volunteer at Lokuloku Clinic and help with operations and support.
Your donation will help pay for direct operating costs (fuel & medical supplies). Extra funds will help to build a small structure to house & care for critical cases & provide a dedicated space for the vets to do surgeries when they can return.
