Please help me represent New Zealand at my first international Athletics Competition!
Auckland
Hi, I'm Anna and I'm 16 years old. On the 19th April 2017 I was named in the New Zealand Junior Para Athletics Team that is travelling to Nottwil, Switzerland late July for the 2017 World Junior Para Athletics Championships.
I qualified and was selected to compete in the T44 100m and the T44 200m events. The classification T44, stands for a single leg below knee limb deficiency. I had my lower right leg amputated in September 2013 as a result of my cancer treatment for an osteosarcoma tumour (bone cancer) located in my right heel bone. I am now just over 3 years cancer free.
This is the first time that I have had the opportunity to compete for New Zealand and I think this will be a great chance for me to experience competition at a high level. I am only 16 years old and competing at these championships is the beginning of me achieving my dreams of one day representing New Zealand at the Paralympic Games. I am currently ranked 4th in the world for both the Para Women’s Junior T44 100m and 200m events and am the New Zealand record holder in the Women's T44 High Jump.
I am aiming to complete my fundraising by the end of June, allowing me to travel to Brisbane, Australia late July where I will compete and train for a week ahead of the Championships. This trip is largely self-funded and for me to get there I am going to need some help. Any donations would be extremely appreciated.
Thanks for your support!
Side note: Any donations received over my goal of $5,000 will be put towards a new Sprinting Blade Prosthetic, costing approx. $9,000.
