Anna McKee Volunteering in Asia 2018

Instead of going to straight to University next year, my goal is to spend 9 months volunteering in several Asian countries including Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Bali.

I will be involved in a number of tasks / projects for example working with street children, teaching children English, community development, women’s empowerment, teaching Buddhist Monks, and also some building/renovation. I may also work with elephants that are at-risk of abuse or neglect. These are only some examples of what I may do. Having been to Vanuatu this year on a school service trip, helping to build two houses in a small village, I realise I have a real passion for working with people much less fortunate than myself.

Volunteering is quite expensive, so I am hoping to raise enough money to travel between these countries so I am able to work with these people in need, throughout the year.

This cause means a lot to me because I believe I can offer my skills to help each community and by the end of this experience I would have learned so much.
