Supporting Annett's family with treatment costs and ongoing expenses, giving Annett the best chance at fighting leukemia again.
Christchurch, Canterbury
New Years Day 2017, Annett was first diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML), but being the fighter she is, she went into remission 6 months later.
Just a few days short of celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, my parent's received the news we have been dreading for 6 years, the leukemia is back.
To give Annett the best chance of fighting AML for a second time, the recommended treatment is Venetoclax, along with a bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, Venetoclax is not funded for AML in NZ. The treatment is estimated to cost up to $6000 per month. Her treatment is expected to continue for at least 3 months but at this stage, we cannot say just how long it will take.
Annett is a wife, mother of 7, and grandmother to 10 beautiful grandchildren. She has the biggest heart and always gives more than she will ever expect in return.
Originally from South Africa, Annett still has two children and 5 beautiful grandchildren living there. It has long been Annett's wish to see all her children together again (it has been 17 years). We believe this treatment will give Annett the best opportunity to see her dream come true.
Words cannot describe how much we appreciate every single donation. Every little bit helps. Thank you all x

To support Annett's family through this difficult time with medical costs (iincluding Venetoclax), travel and living expenses due to income loss.
With many thanks ❤ 17 July 2023
Words cannot express how grateful we are to each and every donor. We have been blown away by the generosity, support and kindess of you all.
This update is to inform those who have donated that we managed to raised enough to cover Mum's first round of treatment. It would not have been possible without you all!
Mum's first round of treatment is nearly finished. Unfortunately, this treatment is no longer the best option for mum so after this round she will be changing treatments. On that note, we will be closing the page for donations at the end of the month.
Mum has been so strong through this round and we have no doubt she will keep fighting.
Kindly,
Annett and Family ❤
