This June, I have the opportunity to travel to Bolivia and volunteer with an agency on anti-trafficking and assistance for survivors.

Human trafficking is a real and urgent issue, and unfortunately, not enough is being done to combat it. While many organizations are doing everything in their power to end this crisis, the concept of trafficking itself is often abstract and misunderstood by the general populace - including myself. Since becoming informed about human trafficking, I have made it my priority to learn and research anti-trafficking efforts, hoping that perhaps one day I could do some good in the world - maybe in the field or simply by bringing more awareness through my research.
As I’ve progressed through university, with the support of eclectic resources and experiences, I’ve acquired more knowledge of the issue. The more I learned, the more passionate I have become for the recovery of survivors, the prevention of trafficking, and the education of the everyday civilians on this critical topic.
This unpaid internship will consist of a combination of in-field assignments, support group participation, and research/education regarding the subject matter. It is an opportunity for me to grow both personally and professionally that I could not ignore, and I am eager to apply my skills and passion for this substantial work.
I’ll be in Bolivia for just under three months, and I’m hoping to raise $5,000NZD to cover airfare, housing, transportation, and food. Any support would be greatly appreciated, and I am deeply grateful for your help in making this opportunity a reality.
