Auckland

Anton was born in Auckland NZ, and turned 30 on 26th October 2018.

Anton ended his own life on November 29th 2018. A really confused young man with a beautiful soul, who got torn apart by the 'system' He is just another 'statistic' for Mental Health in NZ.

At 14 years of age, Anton got into all kinds of minor 'scrapes' with his local friends, and regretfully for his Mother, he was put into a CYFS Home for boys. This was to change his life forever.

During his time in this home Anton was physically, sexually and mentally abused.

On the odd day he was allowed to spend with his family, he was forced into 'stealing' specific items from them, and take them back to the 'home'. If he came back empty handed, he had to suffer all kinds of harsh punishment from the boys and the 'Carer'..

He was made to 'run the gauntlet' between the larger boys, and get beaten on his way.

He suffered cigarette burns, beatings, sexual abuse and was too frightened to tell anyone what he was going through. Anton was threatened with all kinds of repercussions if he 'narked'.

It was not until another boy ran away from the home and told his parents what was happening, that Anton's torment at the home came to an end and the home was closed down by the Govt. .

His story made full front page news in the NZ Herald, with his photo splashed all over the front cover. He felt humiliated and embarrassed and never forgave those who had put him in this

naughty boys home'. It affected him mentally for the rest of his life and his life changed forever.

He became a difficult, unhappy, unforgiving young man. It seemed to him that once all the furore was over, he was thrown in the 'left over' heap to fend for himself.

When Anton died he was in his Mother and Grandparents care, being on 3 months Home detention at their Christchurch property. It was during this time that he started to work out, improve his attitude, and take an interest in his future. He had some wonderful plans and was eagerly waiting to start Counselling - which regretfully never eventuated. Not his fault - again the NZ Mental Health system let him down.

Anton really needed help - a lot of help - but never got what he needed in life.

Although Anton is no longer with us in life, he and his family still need the help of others to get through his death. Anton deserves a lot more than he got, and the Family cannot afford to pay for the kind of FINAL RESULT he deserves - his FUNERAL.

For Anton and the Family to be able to finally say ' Our boy is finally at Peace and buried with dignity' should be his entitlement in death - surely.

Unfortunately, no-one is ever ready for a death in the family. Especially the kind of 'finalizations' that Anton chose for himself. Anton's family are no exception.

They have far more expenses to pay than would be expected, as Anton had to be looked after by TWO Funeral homes, a flight between Christchurch and Auckland, and a specific Grave site so that Anton could be laid to rest in Clevedon (Auckland) beside his soul-mate/cousin Mason Purvis. Anton would have wanted that. He deserved this at least.

Anton leaves behind his adored 4 year old Daughter - Leah.

I am the Single Mother of the deceased Anton Purvis-Stanley

With Anton dying so suddenly, and Anton's family not very well off, we are having great difficulty in finding the funds to pay for the Funeral Home(s) costs and his Burial site in Clevedon.

Anton was living in Christchurch, and his body then flown to Auckland for interment.

This meant two lots of Funeral Home costs, flight costs, purchase of a Burial Plot, all of which are beyond the Family's financial capabilities at this time.

Many thanks to those who have already donated to Anton's Give a Little page and helped us during these hard times, love to you all and may you have a happy and healthy New Year.

Please note that I have to express my disappointment & sorrow that we have some close Family & friends (we thought) who know of Anton's passing, yet have not made contact with us, or even asked if we need help. This has been extremely hurtful for myself, Anton's sisters & Grandparents.

Love and sincere thanks to all those who have seen us through these hard times.
