ANZAC Theatre Projector Upgrade

$5,450 of $80,000 goal
Given by 49 generous donors in around 6 months

We are in need of community help and support to raise funds to help complete the upgrade to a Laser Projector for our cinema.

Northland

The ANZAC’s Theatre Cinema Trust has recently been able to afford a very costly repair to the cinema’s projector. This was only a short term measure and we are in need of funds to help us complete the rest of the upgrade to a brand new laser powered projector.

This upgrade of equipment will bring the ANZAC Theatre up to ‘state of the art’ level with regard to the projector and server required to run the cinema along with a refreshed warranty on both.

We will be applying for grants, however community support is also needed to enable us to move ahead and complete this work so we can keep our doors open and the films rolling.

If you are able to help financially we will gratefully receive donations – either at the cinema itself or via our bank account:

All donations over $50 are entitled to a tax refund due to us being a Charitable Trust and will be receipted.

With thanks to everyone who has supported us over the last six years – we look forward to being around for many years to come, with your help.

About us

After the Empire Theatre closed in the 1980s Dargaville was left without a cinema for over 25 years. Several groups tried to bring the cinema back but failed despite huge community support. In 2009 Graeme Ramsey and Jacoba Puharich deposited $50 each into a Kiwisaver account with the purpose of creating a trust to bring cinema back to Dargaville and to promote the visual arts in the Northern Wairoa.

A dedicated group of volunteers researched cinema operation, learned about the local audience, showed movies at a temporary venue called The Kumara Box to raise funds, raised $450,000 over a four year period and finally built the ANZAC Theatre

The theatre opened in July 2013 thanks to enormous community support and generous support from our funders Transpower, Lotteries Grants Board, ASB Community Trust and the Kaipara District Council. In addition to this there were numerous donations from local people.

The ANZAC Theatre operates as a ‘not for profit’ Charitable Community Trust. It relies on your support. It is a place for the promotion of the visual arts, and developing creativity for all people in our community.

Use of funds

The money raised will be put towards the $80,000 new Laser Projector for our cinema.
