Our college Hip Hop Crew, Aotea Empire entered a regional competition for the first time ever and qualified to head to Nationals in Dunedin in 4 weeks. This is going to be a huge task for our whanau who want to give their girls the very best opportunities available. Their video has had over 4000 views and can be seen on our school facebook page. Wanganui City College. None of our girls have ever been to the South Island and are all working very hard fundraising and preparing to perform.
I am the Deputy Principal and Teacher in charge of Hip Hop in the school.
Our school Hip Hop Crew entered the Wellington Regional Hip Hop competition for the very first time. They worked hard for six weeks and headed off to regionals. They surprised themselves by coming second and qualifying for nationals in Dunedin in four weeks.
They've done it again! 14 August 2016
We entered the girls into the Dance NZ Made competition on Friday night for performance experience and guess what? They won the Open Section and Overall first place! This qualified them for another national competition that is the day after the one in Dunedin. They are amazing! The really exciting thing is that they are all Year 9, 10 and 11 girls... what an exciting future!
