Auckland

Hi my name is Trainee. I was born and raised in the beautiful Rarotonga, Cook island. I grew up planting crops and raising animals to help feed my family. I moved to New Zealand when I was 15 to further my education. I attended Otahuhu College in Sth Auckland. Whilst in New Zealand I met a beautiful girl and we have a four year old daughter. After I completed college I decided to move back to Rarotonga with my little family. While living there for 3 years I was working as a Aviation Security Officer at the Airport. I really enjoyed it but I knew it wasn't for me, so I decided to move again. This time to Australia. Living there was stressful and the life was very fast. My daily routine was go to work, come home, eat, get ready for next day then sleep. Monday to Friday. I never enjoyed it. I hardly had time for family. I knew it wasn't for me. I wanted to be a business man. I had to think hard about what my business or product will be. Then I remembered, growing up as a little boy in the island's, I would always plant every seed I find in fruits and vegetables. Planting was my happy zone. Peace and quite. I would drift in my own world of gardening. I knew right then that I had found my passion. Planting, Nature, Animals, Gardening. I searched the internet and learnt a technique of growing called Aquaponics. I have been studying the ins and outs of aquaponics growing for the past year and it is amazing. I want to introduce this way of growing to the Cook Islands. This is for me. This is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Growing, Providing fresh, sustainable healthy 100 percent organic vegetables for my people. I have attatched a video to give you a fair idea how aquaponics works. All funds donated will go towards buying the rest of the materials, also for the container to ship back to the islands. So please start supporting, start donating whatever you can. Anything and everything is very much appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time out to view my givealittle page, I am very grateful for whatever you can spare, once again thank you very much.

Trainee Mataio's involvement (page creator)

I will be in charge of everything from buying all building materials and tools in New Zealand, then transport everything back to Rarotonga. I will build the green house with the help of a friend. I will also be selling my produce at the market and to clients with the help of my partner.
