Giving a bit of kindness to the less fortunate and compassionate with no judgement

Hamilton, Waikato

The Reality of Our Homeless Community

Every Saturday night in Hamilton, while many people are sitting in warm homes with family, there are others outside in the cold. Some are sleeping in cars, some under bridges, some walking the streets just trying to stay safe until morning.

Our homeless community are not just “homeless people.”

They are mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, and someone's child.

Many have stories of loss, trauma, mental health struggles, broken systems, or simply hard times that pushed them to the streets. Sometimes all it takes is one crisis — losing a job, a relationship breakdown, illness, or rising living costs.

What they truly need is not judgement.

They need compassion.

They need people who see them as human.

When we serve the streets, we see the real needs every week:

• Warm food to fill empty stomachs

• Hot drinks on cold nights

• Blankets and warm clothing

• Toiletries to restore dignity

• Shoes and socks

• Hygiene products

• Kind conversations

• Respect and human connection

Right now we are feeding our people in a carpark with no seating or tables. And when it rains no gazebo for shelter. This location has been approved by the city council and movement happend due to judgment from the public eye

Help with a trailer to cart everything around be a great help for us.

Sometimes the most powerful thing we give is not the food.

It is the moment someone looks them in the eye and says:

“You matter.”

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
