Libby is excited to be selected and to aspire, representing NZ at the World Summer Games, (March 2019), in Abu Dhabi, a huge global event!!!

Hi everyone. It is an honour to introduce my Foster Daughter, Libby Sheppard, (age 20).
Libby and her elder sister Jackie joined our family in 2008 to leave behind a tough and unfortunate childhood. Libby had the added challenge of inheriting a rare chromosome depletion and another very rare chromosome variation resulting in a general intellectual disabity and some health issues.
We soon realised Libbys passion for water!! In 2012 she joined North Otago Special Olympics. After moving to Manawatu in 2014, Libby had joined the swimming team there within a week!!!! She has competed in several regional events, Trans Tasman and 2 National Summer Games. Her medal list is too numerous to mention.
Participating in Special Olympics means that Libby has a chance to be included and valued as a team member in a wonderful environment. Peer participation is treasured where relationships grow, she learns responsibility and how to support other team members.
As well as "Give A Little", Libby is trying her best at other fundraisers for herself and her team.

My husband and I are overwhelmed to see our foster daughter, Libby rising above many challenges in her young life. Special Olympics has bought joy and confidence into her life that cannot be underrated. Libby is a humble young woman and we know she will give her absolute best, not only for her team, but also her country.
We would appreciate your support and encouragement for Libby regardless of the amount.
Use of funds
Funds are used for all Libby's travel and living cost which includes accomodation, air fares, meals, insurance, uniform etc.
