We appreciate all your donations, this money is helping us through a truly trying time for my brother and our family. Wynton is still in the post traumatic amnesia stage of his recovery. Physically he is doing well. When I can’t be with him, I call him each day. I count my blessings he remembers who I am and the bond we share. Meri Kirihimete to all, and a wishing you all blessings for 2023

  • Amazing progress from our brother - keep up the hard mahi!

We have had such an influx of love and supportive messages and calls over the last month and we are so thankful.

It was four weeks ago, our not so little brother Wynton was assaulted, seriously injured and admitted to Christchurch Hospital. After a week in the ICU, we were told that Winnies outlook was extremely bleak and our family was absolutely devastated. Winnie underwent emergency brain surgery but unfortunately suffered a severe stroke as a result of his injuries.

Needless to say, it has been a truly awful time not only for our family but for Wyntons other whanau, his amazing friends that have stepped up and shown so much love and support for us during this uncertain time.

Against all odds, Winnie’s health is improving. He has been through so much over the past weeks, including multiple surgeries, but continues to fight hard each and every day with all the stubbornness and strength that Wynton has always possessed.

Wynton will soon embark on the next stage of his journey and begin intensive rehabilitation, he has a long road ahead of him but we are all so proud of how far he has come in such a short time and we have no doubt he will continue to amaze doctors and nurses with his progress.

The Christchurch Hospital has been so accommodating including allowing extended visiting hours. The doctors, nurses, councillors, social workers and surgeons in the ICU and Neurology Ward are providing amazing care for Winnie, we are so thankful.

There are so many special people contributing in so many ways whether it is from a distance or sitting at Winnies bedside, the overwhelming outpouring of love and support has been felt so intensely.

We hope to share more exciting news in the coming months, I’m sure Winnie will not disappoint.

    Arohanui,

    King Whanau

Aroha mai for the time it has taken to post this update. We are in disbelief. Over 30k gifted by you all to help Winnie's immediate family. You have all contributed in assisting us to remain at his bedside with no financial burden. Words will never be enough to express our gratitude. We are more than happy to inform you all that despite the odds against him following brain surgery, a stroke and jaw surgery, Wynton has made improvements. We are so proud of Wynton and the progress he has made. The road ahead is long with bumps, twists and turns but without your help we wouldn't be here with him and we THANK YOU!

    Ngā mihi nui

Winnie is still in the ICU battling and we remain in Christchurch by his side.
