We Karitas parents would like to be by her side on her journey to India for liver transplant procedure
Auckland
Kiora and Talofa lava,
My name is Samaria Laulatana Mitchell a mother of a 5 month old (05/10/2018) baby girl that brings us so much joy, happiness and love.
Our daughter Eliana Brielle Karita lightens any room with her genuine contagious smile regardless being diagnosed with a liver condition while awaiting a liver transplant.
At 6 weeks we took her for a regular immunization and Drs notice she was jaundiced (yellow skinned, yellow eyes) and admitted right away at Motootua Hospital for a week.
Following where weekly visit to the hospital for blood tests and xrays/ultrasound sometimes twice a week.
She is now 5 months old
Being a parent the hardest thing ever is being hopeless when your child is sick, crying and being stab with needles for blood tests.
Being that our country is still developing we seek help and assistance through our Samoan Government to have our daughter on a medical treatment overseas.
She is scheduled to see a specialist for liver at Fortis Hospital India(Miles away from home)
now being sponsored by our Government all her treatments, airfare and accommodations (1 patient and one caregiver for accommodation only) are taken care of.
Eliana is not our biological child and our only child too. (Adopted) In terms of being a donor and a match we are not a match but grateful for her biological father for being generous enough to be her donor for our amazing child who completes our family, who gives us so much love and whom we cannot live without.
Unfortunately the Government medical scheme does not cover My husband and my travel expenses to accommodate our child from Samoa to India as well as our daughter's donor (biological father) and accommodations
This give a little platform will give us an opportunity to support and be by our sweet daughters side, hold her hand and physically be there for her as she'll need her mom and dad there. We kindly ask for any assistance in helping us perpare and be there for our daughter. She's our greatest blessing and the thought of not being there for her hurts so much. She's our only Child whom we prayed and hoped for.
Our family would really appreciate any support from your side. Thank you for reading my story and sharing with others.
Thank you
Eliana Brielle Karita and family
My sis inlaw 5 months old baby girl needs urgent liver transplant but she lives In Samoa however surgery will be done in India. Baby flights and accommodation are covered by goverment fund however her parents flights and accommodation plus the donor are not covered. Karita is adopted therefore both her parents would really like to be with their little girl when she goes to India. She is their first child.
Flights and accommodation in India for up to 6 months depending on how well baby treatment will go.
We would like to apply for NZ citizenship so it is easier for Karita to get the medical help in the future instead of going all the way to India
Eliana Brielle Karita Journey 23 July 2019
I would like to thank each and everyone of Eliana Brielle Karita donors for all your donations towards Karitas givealittle fundraise towards her trip to India
Unfortunately, while awaiting her departure date to India she was diagnosed with Hydroplastic Heart Sydrome and therefore she could no longer travel to India.
Sadly at 9 months old she passed away at home as there was no treatment possible for her underlying condition.
She will be sadly missed by her family and everyone that came to know her.
All donations raised were sent to her mother Samaria Mitchell-Siolo.
Once again thank you all for your kind donations.
With all due respect
Leilani Tusa
