My name is norelle,

You might recognise me from the recent Breakfast show tv interview/newspaper articles . Some might remember my WOW costumes that used to parade around the stage in Wellington.

I have a genetic condition called EDS-Ehlers Danlos syndrome .It effects the collagen in my connective tissues. It has been a very long journey to get to this diagnosis, and now I'm fighting for the mobility aids I need.

It has been 16 months since I left hospital . misdiagnosis led to treatment that damaged my legs ,Lack of bracing, led to needing a wheelchair .Im still waiting for the knee braces and crutches that will help me walk again. I'm embarrassed that I have to ask the public for things that the hospital or ACC still have not provided ,but here we are.

-I was evacuated during the recent flooding event In Nelson ,when a major slip came down behind my house. It has been slapped with a red sticker , so I am now l staying in civil defence Motels, with my 21 year old with autism and their partner.

I sprained my right shoulder and both knees coming down the front stairs of my house which is inaccessible for me usually .

Maybe the kindness of others will help me to finally get these . One less worry while being homeless :)
