Providing financial assistance for their son Ace who has been diagnosed with 'Severe Right Ventricular Dilation and Pulmonary Hypertension'
Otago
Ace became unwell last week and his mother Barb took him to the family GP. Ace was referred to Dunedin hospital and there he had a scan which revealed a devastating condition call 'Severe Right Ventricular Dilation and Pulmonary Hypertension'. This basically means that the right ventricle to the lungs is extremely narrow, preventing good oxygen flow. Unfortunately, as he grows, this will get worse and his health will deteriorate and it's highly likely he will not survive. Ace has been put on a cocktail of medications, in hope it slows down the process and keeps him comfortable.
Barb is a friend of mine.
It is devastating what this family is going through, the least I can do is set up this page for family and friends to help contribute too. Every little bit will help this family
They are asking for financial help to keep them all together (Mum, Dad, Ava, Aces four year old sister and Granny) without having to worry about bills etc back home whist everyone is up there caring for Ace and supporting one another
Baby Ace has sadly passed away 28 March 2017
On March 7th Ace sadly passed away from -
☆Pulmonary Hypertension - 8 months
☆Multiple Organ Failure - 24 hours
☆Pneumonia - 18 days
☆Stenotrophomonas - Adenovirus Influenza A
Throughout the month Barb and Dave were at Starship he fought the entire month but unfortunately contracted a virus whilst on the heart ward which sent him back into PICU (intensive care) and from there everything went down hill......
He was put on the ecmo machine which took out his blood and oxygenated it and pumps it back into his body, his left lung collapse and filled with mucus which the docs desperately tried to reinflate but unfortunately Ace had two nasty virus and a bacterial infection by this stage and there was nothing anyone could do (no antibiotics for viruses) so his kidneys/spleen/liver/lungs were shutting down and the decision was made to take him off the ecmo machine (he was still in his induced coma) and he was placed in Barb's arm's and the doc clamped one of his tubes (there were two tubes that went into his neck to his heart and lungs) and he died within seconds.
This is an absolute traumatic time for this family, they bought Ace's body home and had a small intimate funeral for him with close friends and family.
The funeral bill is in and has added up hugely. If you're able to donate anything to help this family out please do. They shouldn't have to be worrying about money at this time, but sadly its a reality.
Thanks for supporting Barb, Dave and Ava, I know they appreciate it so much x
