Baby Blu's fight to survive

  • 15/10/2014

      15 December 2014

Sorry it's taken me a while for an update.....

Unfortunately Baby Blu passed away on 24/11/14 Doctors had given him weeks to a month to live but our baby boy managed to be here with us and keep fighting for a whole month and a half - he was diagnosed at 4 months and died at 6 months 1 day.... it's been a rough few weeks for my family and I but we are slowly getting there. On Saturday 22nd Nov. 14 my partner and I decided that because our son didn't have long to live we were going to get married. So, when he was discharged from Whangarei Hospital the week before we didn't have long to plan our big day. It was hard and money was tight but with the awesome love and support we received from our family and friends we made it happen and it was more than we could have ever asked for. We married at Rainbow Falls on the 22nd, our house was robbed that same night then we lost our boy on Monday 24th Nov. Its not anything I would wish upon anyone in this world to experience.

Now that our son has left us any funds raised will be put towards his funeral costs and anything left my husband and I will donate to the Ronald McDonald House to show our thanks for them looking after us while we were in Starship Children's Hospital...

Many thanks to all who have kindly donated to our baby boys cause mad love and respect to each and everyone of you xoxoxoxox

FLY HIGH MY HANDSOME MAN!!! Maybe gone but NEVER FORGOTTEN xoxoxoxox

  • Results from Baby Blu's Biopsy

      20 October 2014

Thursday 9 October; We got the results back from Blu-Ray's Biopsy, and things aren't good. He was diagnosed with an "" Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor"". (AT/RT) Central nervous system (CNS) Atypical Teratoid/Rhabdoid tumor (AT/RT) is a very rare, fast-growing tumor of the brain and spinal cord. It usually occurs in children younger than three years of age, although it can occur in older children and adults. About half of these tumors form in the cerebellum or brain stem. The cerebellum is the part of the brain that controls movement, balance, and posture. The brain stem controls breathing, heart rate, and the nerves and muscles used in seeing, hearing, walking, talking, and eating. AT/RT may also be found in other parts of the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord.) Unfortunately there is nothing Starship Hospital can do for our baby boy as his tumor is beyond the point of surgery and we are now seeking help in other places. We are not giving up our baby and will fight to the end to find a cure for our little man.
