Please help me gain my Teachers Registration

I am a New Zealand trained and qualified teacher.

I have always loved teaching. It wasn’t until I was 30 that I actually started studying for my Bachelor of Teaching through The University of Waikato, of which I completed in 2006.

I have utilised my degree in a variety of different areas over the years. I have taught main stream classes, run OSCAR programmes and taught children from a variety of different backgrounds with learning and behavioural difficulties, as well as children with special needs. I have also run my own OSCAR programme and did this for five years. I would like to work with whanau and children alike and to give all the children in my care a fantastic pre-school experience. It would enable me to help prepare children for school as well as empowering families with knowledge that they can pass on to other family members and those within their community to help all whanau raise well rounded, happy children.

I have taken some years away from teaching and have now decided it is the right time to go back into teaching, unfortunately my teaching certificate has expired.

To bring it up to date and enable me to teach again I must complete a 4 month teacher education refresher course at the cost of $3500. I must also take 4 weeks off work from 6th November to 3rd December to do a teaching practicum, as well as travel to Wellington for a 2 day block course.

None of these costs are covered by a student loan, as a student loan is only provided on study where NZQA credits are given.
