A purpose bigger than myself.

I’ll be running 167.5km in a backyard ultra to raise funds for the Hutt Valley team of Special Olympics New Zealand.

The people I’ve met through Special Olympics constantly remind me of something simple but powerful — no matter your circumstances, there’s always a reason to smile, to show up, and to be grateful. It doesn’t matter how big or small the moment is.

When things get tough out there, that’s what I’ll be thinking about.

It is an organization at my place of work. We host their Special Olympics Bowling team at our venue.

Use of funds

The money will be used to aid those who are unable to cover traveling and entry costs to tournaments.

On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
