Help us help the kids of Bangladesh
Auckland
I'm celebrating my 50th birthday with a bunch of people by making a fund-raising ride from Auckland to Invercargill on 50cc scooters.
Having volunteered in Bangladesh for a year setting up an e-Learning platform and helping out with book keeping, our family has returned to NZ and still wants to help out the schools we've been working with in Chandpur and Dhaka.
Schooling in Bangladesh is typically rote learning, memorisation and working from text books. The leaders of these schools want to see their students better prepared to navigate the complexities of the modern world. The big picture is to teach these children how to learn and think critically and to have high quality educational resources made freely available to children regardless of where they live.
The students need devices to access these resources and we're raising funds to provide students with Chromebooks. The average price of the chromebook we are looking at will be around $500NZD. Anything given via this page will go directly towards getting more devices into the hands of students. Any amount given towards this would be greatly appreciated!
Updated on 17/08: Funds will go directly to purchase of chromebooks.
Funds will be used to support our family's living expenses so that we can offer ourselves as volunteers in the schools. Surplus funds can be donated to the NGO who we have a contract with to benefit the schools directly.
Use of fund changed 17 August 2020
Hi everyone,
From now on, all funds received will go directly to the purchase of chromebooks for students here in our schools in Dhaka and Chandpur.
Thanks for considering being a part of this with us.
Thanks Stacey, very much appreciated.
Thanks so much Louise
