The Basement Schools Programme is a fully subsidized initiative that connects grassroots theatre makers with young audiences

The Basement Schools Programme (Te Ara Angitu - The pathway to opportunity) offers our partner schools, free tickets to shows at our venue, free transport to and from our space and education packs for students.

While these schools are from right across Auckland what they have in common is a strong focus on the arts but limited access to the resources that many other schools enjoy.

We also fund a show to tour to our partner schools and supply students with workshop opportunities and high quality teaching resources that allow them to respond to shows within the framework of the New Zealand curriculum.

We provide intimate theatre experiences showcasing local content, new voices and strong stories with the ultimate goal of introducing these young people to a lifelong relationship with the arts.

The funds will be used to cover transport costs, artist fees, and the creation of education packs.
