Help Bay of Plenty Rangers embark on a life-changing cultural exchange to Japan, fostering global friendships and growth!
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
Eight excited Rangers from the Bay of Plenty are gearing up for the adventure of a lifetime – a cultural exchange to Hitachi City, Japan, in April 2025! Introducing Ava McCarthy, Naomi Dihm, Emma Hunt, Isabelle Stockdale (Tauranga Rangers), Dani Hudson, Emma and Mel Young (Katikati Rangers) and Esther Pearce (Whakatane Ranger).
This incredible programme has been building friendships and cultural connections between Tauranga and Hitachi for over 20 years. It’s more than just a trip; it’s an opportunity for our young leaders to represent New Zealand, embrace new experiences, and create lifelong memories. The last in-person group sent was in 2017. In 2021, due to international border closures caused by COVID restrictions, we adapted by participating a virtual exchange.
Our Rangers will stay with Japanese guiding families, immerse themselves in local traditions, and share their own unique Kiwi culture through songs, poi, and guiding values. For many, this is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to grow in confidence, learn independence, and be part of something truly special.
But we need your help to make this dream a reality. Every donation helps us cover the costs of travel, accommodation, and guiding activities. By donating, you’re not just supporting this trip—you’re helping shape the future of these amazing young women and keeping this unique exchange alive for future Rangers.
Let’s help our Rangers take on this adventure and proudly represent New Zealand!
Thank you for your support! 🌟
I am a Local Coordinator for Girl Guiding Bay of Plenty, I share this role jointly with our Tauranga Ranger leader. My role is to support the leaders in my team and the units they oversee. I am also on the support committee for this exchange programme. Funds will be paid to Pam who is one of the leaders' selected to accompany the 8 Rangers on this exchange.
Tea Ceremony, Shrine visit, official Girl Guiding uniforms, flights and travel insurance for the group, accommodation in Tokyo (the night before the flight home to NZ), resources for making SWAPS (small whatchamacallits affectionally pinned somewhere)
