Hi friends and supporters! We wanted to share a quick update on Zoe’s amazing lifesaving journey and thank you for being part of it.

Back in 2022, you kindly supported Zoe as she set off to the World Junior Lifesaving Champs in Italy. Since then, she’s worked hard and earned her spot on the Open NZ Black Fins team, making waves internationally.

2024 was incredible - Zoe dominated the Australian Pool Rescue Champs with 8 golds and multiple new records.

Next was 2024 World Lifesaving Champs on the Gold Coast, NZ placed 2nd overall! Zoe brought home:

    🏅 4x Gold – World Champion

    • 100m Manikin Tow

    • Rescue Tube Rescue

    • 4x50m Obstacle Relay

    • Oceanwoman Relay

    🥈 Silver – 100m Manikin Carry

🥉 2x Bronze – Medley Relay, Line Throw

Early 2025, Zoe was one of four NZ athletes invited to the World Games Series Invitational in China, winning two golds and one bronze.

🥇 Gold – 100m Manikin Tow (Video Above)

    🥇 Gold – 200m Super Lifesaver

    🥉 Bronze – 100m Manikin Carry

She then flew straight to Aussie Nationals where her team won gold in Rescue Tube Rescue.

Off the beach and out of the pool, Zoe is studying Sport & Rec at AUT and doing placement hours with the Tania Dalton Foundation - a cause close to her heart.

Up next: World Games in China, August 2025 - where only the world’s top 8 qualify. Zoe’s earned her spot in two events!

Zoe's journey is only just beginning , and we're so grateful to have you along for the ride. We’ll keep you posted on what’s next!

  • NZ Youth Lifesaving Team SILVER!! - 2nd Overall out of 56 Countries

      3 October 2022

    Hey Team,

I know it's not long since the last update but so much has unfolded in a week.

Firstly the news that NZ Youth Team pulled in an overall SILVER!!🥈 - 2nd Overall out of 56 Countries! A great ending to a very long week.

Australia won with 977 points, NZ second on 699 and Italy third with 664.

    On The Beach

The team did amazingly well with some stand out performances .. Gus Shivnan taking out Gold and being named U19 world champion in the surf race, Jayden Murphy smashed out Gold in the ski race & Oska Smith taking the Gold for the beach sprints! .. George and Jack took home Bronze in the board rescue and Lachie Falloon who co-captained alongside Zoe took out Bronze in the Board Race. Summer Rolston came in 3rd in the Oceanwoman, Jayden Murphy 2nd in the Oceanman. The NZ girls Ocean Relay team came in to take the Bronze, the Boys took out Silver and the mixed team brought home 2nd place! The boys in the beach relay put their pedal to the metal to take home silver too!

In the Rescue Tube Rescue Zoe, Talitha and the girls took out 2nd place literally just behind the Aussies.

Was a mix of emotions on the beach and tough few days with up's and down's .. but an absolutely incredible effort by everyone and a lot of amazing results! 💥

    In The Pool

In the pool Jack Keepa put on a sterling performance in the final of 100 Manikin Carry to bring home Silver. Zoe annihilated her 200 Super Lifesaver, making the final in lane 8, the outside lane and bringing home a SMASHING performance to knock nearly 4 seconds off the NZ record and take home a well-deserved Silver! Video above of her 200 Super Lifesaver race 💥 ... Zoe also had a fantastic run in the 100 Manikin Tow, breaking another NZ record and bringing home another Silver.

Another stand out performance for me in the pool was Lucy Bartlett's 100 Rescue medley. This is an absolutely awful race, it blows my mind watching them swim this every time. . They swim 50m, at the end they turn around and have to swim 17.5m all underwater and collect the 65kg manikin off the bottom of the pool and then take him home. All without fins! Lucy put down an incredibly solid swim and came in 5th! 5th U19 in the world. What these guys and gals do is so incredibly amazing. These people are the ones on our beaches ready to save lives. Aren't we all blessed! 🙏

It was an incredible all-round effort to take home 2nd place overall... There were many 4ths and many performances in the top 10 which was phenomenal to see. A great bunch of athletes who put everything into putting their foot on the line over the last week and it all to lead to a great final result - NZ Youth Overall - SILVER! 🥈

    Zoe's results are below -

SILVER🥈 - 100 Manikin Tow - NZ Record - They dive in with fins on & collect the manikin waiting at the end & tow him home.

SILVER🥈 - 200 Super Lifesaver - Smashed NZ Record by nearly 4 seconds - They swim first 50 no fins, turns around and swims half way and collects 65kg manikin off ground and takes it to the end.. They then collect tube and fins and swim 50m and collect 2nd manikin and tow him home.

VIDEO ATTACHED ABOVE TO VIEW 200 SUPER LIFESAVER

SILVER🥈 - Rescue Tube Rescue - first athlete swims to buoy & second athlete (Zoe) runs in with tube & fins & goes to collect them & tows them home.. Once they reach shore the athlete is dragged over the line by two more athletes.

    4th - 100 Manikin Carry

    4th - 4 x 50 Obstacle Relay

    4th - 4 x 50 Medley Relay

    6th - 4 x 25 Manikin Relay

    7th - Surf Race

    7th - 4 x Lifesaver Relay

    9th - 200 Obstacles

After a long week they all deserve a well-deserved break.

    The In's & Out's Of The Week ...

The team played tourists the week prior seeing a few of the surrounding sights of Riccione, obviously with trainings scattered throughout the day as well. They had an amazing time! Super grateful to the NZ Surf management team for organising all that.

A big thank you to Zoe's support crew who went over.. My sister and cousin Neil flew in from the UK and my Dad flew over as well. By the looks of the photos they drank Italy dry and ate incredible food every night haha. I was extremely grateful for them being there and for Zoe having a support crew on the ground. There was unfortunately no live -streaming so every night they would live-stream me to watch the races so I definitely felt part of it even being so far away!

What's next for Zoe ? Who knows exactly but definitely some time out of the pool when she returns. She'll get stuck into summer surf training on the beach and she's also signed up for summer hockey which will give her a change of focus for a wee while.

Is there any big stuff lined up next? Next year Northern region surf are running a Trans-Tasman competition which Zoe will put her name forward for. NZ Surf lifesaving will also take a team to the International Surf Rescue Challenge which I think is held in America next year so again she'll put her name forward for that. She's also possibly looking at trialling for U18's REP Harbour hockey team in April.

If you haven't guessed by now, Zoe's energy runs off this sort of stuff ... So there will be plenty to keep her occupied and her energy alive.

For those looking for my new Facebook, I've had to go incognito so they will let me back in. So for now you'll find me under 'Liza Crawford' 😂 until I can slowly change my name back.

Thanks again for everything. Your help and support has been so enormously appreciated. We are forever grateful 🙏💜

Over and out until next time!

    Lisa & Zoe 🌸

  • U19 World Champs Italy - Landed & Game On 💥

      29 September 2022
    Main image

    Hey Hey everyone,

Time for an update so much has happened, so here goes! All honesty here .. As you know it's not always rainbows and butterflies.

Zoe's Pan Pacific Games wasn't the greatest experience for her at all. She unfortunately didn't manage to do what she wanted to do, she's still unsure what happened with her 200 backstroke as she left in such good form. She's still got a bit of this to process when she returns from World Champs. She had a rough time with coaches in Hawaii and the experience on a whole just wasn't an awesome one at all. In fact left her in a very negative head space.

Zoe came back from that experience quite written off - emotionally and mentally more than anything. She was however extremely blessed that her school hockey team was competing in Napier at NZ Secondary schools the week she returned !! So the day after she arrived home from Hawaii she flew to Napier to be with and around her beautiful team mates.

At this stage we had 3 weeks to try and turn her head space around for Italy. A week out of the pool was just what the doctor ordered and also being around her hockey team kept her in great spirits. She kept saying how important it was to be around a happy environment with loving people and her hockey mates filled her cup massively which was a huge blessing!

Westlake Girls finished 6th in the top tier - super amazing 🏑 , Zoe played one game when she arrived but was basically there to be their head cheerleader and their number one support!! 💜

Zoe arrived home from that week with 2 weeks prep to go before flying out to U19 World Champs. We are both forever grateful to the hockey team and the fact that the comp was on that week. That helped her turn a massive corner mentally and really really fast.

Prep and taper was then made. Zoe was named Co-Captain of the NZ Team and she was in high spirits to fly out. They arrived in Italy & then Zoe came down with FOOD POISONING! Of all things... 2 days no food or water and then refuelling. Once again, time was on her side and she made a 100% full recovery the day before race day.

The team has been going great, loads of incredible achievements all round! So it's a team of 12 athletes - 6 Young men & 6 Young ladies and they accumulate points over the week with all the events. At the moment, right now NZ Youth are sitting in 3rd out of 56 countries and still 4 days of full on competition to go.

Zoe had her first race yesterday. It's called the Rescue Tube Rescue - She warmed up & got the most enormous jellyfish sting on her shoulder! With some quick doctor aid she was ready to get back into it..

So, the first athlete swims, no fins out to the buoy and then the second athlete (which was Zoe) runs in with tube, puts fins on and swims out to collect the athlete waiting at the buoy. Once they reach shore, Zoe offloads the patient and the patient is dragged up the beach by 2 more athletes. So 4 in the team.

Talitha swam incredibly well and then Zoe had a big job in front of her to collect her and tow her home. Zoe actually said she was FLYING! They were moving at some speed I wish I was there! 🔥

This was her first race and they ended up with SILVER! Silver at Youth World Champs - pretty special.

That's it for now ... she has loads and loads more races over the next 4 days so I'll do another update at the end. But off to an incredible start. Of course she wasn't happy & wanted Gold 😂 But anyone that knows Zoe knows that she wouldn’t have wanted anything else.

The experience so far has been amazing . Captaining the ship with Lachie will make for a super special week for her.

As for me.... If anyone has tried to contact me on facebook lately my page has been disabled by Facebook. Some kind person posted revolting sexual content all over my page so unfortunately I'm trying to keep everyone in the loop with her journey as best I can in other ways. . If you are wanting to get in touch just flick me an email and we can connect on WhatsApp.

Love to each and every one of you!! 💜

    Over and Out for now!!

    Lisa & Zoe

  • Wrap up of Aussie Pool Rescue & She's landed in Hawaii!

      24 August 2022
    Main image

    Hey Team!

Last time we talked Zoe was still in Aussie and had one last day of competing at Aussie Pool Rescue Champs with the NZ surf team. She had an incredible day on the Sunday and crushed another Aussie and NZ record with her super fast 100 Manikin Carry. Results are below from her weekend with the team -

    2022 Australian Pool Rescue Championships

    1st - U17 100 Manikin Tow - Broke NZ & Australian record

    1st - U17 100 Manikin Carry - Broke NZ & Australian record

    1st - U17 200 Super Lifesaver

    2nd - U17 50 Fins

    2nd - U19 Obstacle Relay

    2nd - U19 4 x 25 Manikin Relay

    2nd - Open 4 x 25 Manikin Relay

    2nd - U19 4 x 50 Medley Relay

She had an incredible time racing for an Aussie club - BMD Northcliffe. They were SUPER welcoming and the weather was so so nice that I did wonder if she would come back home haha

She was shocked, stoked and one happy young lady when she returned. She raced a whole lot faster than she ever new she could, so was amazing preparation for her for U19 World Champs in September.

As for now though we ran an incredible fundraising night last Friday which not only raised a lot but was also such a wonderful evening to celebrate Zoe's successes and journey ahead. We always feel the celebration gets a bit lost as it's one thing to the next and to the next so it was nice for her to stop and breathe for a minute and take it all in.

She flew out to Hawaii on Sunday with the NZ Swim Team. Pictures attached are of her Aussie Pool Rescue Gold and the rest are HAWAII!! Her smile is so huge, she is very happy and very blessed to be there ☀️

The build up is winding down as racing starts tomorrow .. Will be interesting for her with 200 Backstroke as her main race & in an outdoor pool! - Let's hope she doesn't make too good friends with the lane rope and it all comes together ok.

That's it for now, until next time ... Thank you again. We appreciate you all forever and always 💜 🙏

  • Surf Lifesaving Australian Pool Rescue Championships

    Good morning Zoe supporters!

Zoe has started her campaign and left on Thursday with the U19 World Champs team to race at Australian Pool Rescue Nationals. They are using this space to help mimic World Champs, to put them under physical and emotional pressure before they race.

They did this by getting them do do back to back ocean races and then they drove the athletes to the pool to compete with dead legs as Zoe says 😂 .

Zoe has joined an Australian club while she is over there, so she is racing for Northcliffe! She's met loads of amazing people and absolutely loving the Aussie atmosphere.

There is still a day to go but so far Zoe has been racing extremely well. A lot of you won't know Surf Lifesaving so I'll explain the races below 💥

    U17 - GOLD + NZ & Aussie Record! 💥

100 MANIKIN TOW - Zoe dives in with fins & tube .. & collects the heavy manikin waiting for her at the end of the pool & brings it back.

Not long after her 100 Tow Zoe won another Aussie Title!

    GOLD - 200 Super Lifesaver 🔥 - A 6.3 sec PB!

They swim 1st 50m no fins, swim back & collect 60kg manikin from bottom of pool & bring it to 100m mark.

Then put on fins & tube, swim to other end & collect the next manikin & bring that manikin to the finish.

SILVER - U19 - 200 Obstacle Relay with her Northcliffe club.

More racing today so will see how today pans out ✨ Great racing pre for Hawaii in a few weeks time and Italy in September !

She’s doing what she loves! 💥

So many of you made this experience happen for her … So blessed for your support 🙏✨

  • Northern Region Awards of Excellence - 'U17 Sportswoman of the Year'

      7 July 2022
    Main image

Last Saturday night Zoe received U17 Sportswoman of the Year for Northern Region Surf Lifesaving. Picture is attached 🌸 This is the 5th year in a row Zoe has been named her age group 'Sportwoman of the year'!

Well... it's four weeks to go & Zoe will be off with the NZ Surf Lifesaving Youth Team to head to Australia for Australian Pool Rescue Nationals. Surf NZ are using this as pre race practice for World Champs.

For those who don't know Surf Lifesaving - they compete in the pool as well as the ocean. The pool events can involve a tube, large fins and a manikin that weighs around 60-65kg. These are intense and extremely exciting to watch! They are basically mimicking saving a life. Zoe's favourite events are the 100 manikin Tow and 100 Manikin Carry both of which she really hopes to make the final in at World Champs.

Her training schedule is pushed to the limit but she is still managing to squish some hockey in! 🏑 ... With so many bugs around at the moment she's doing her best to keep well and healthy 💛

Pan Pacific Games will be next in Hawaii but at the moment it's working on whats ahead of her first. I'll keep you in the loop with how things unravel in Aussie 💜

Thank you again for all your support! Having this all come together is actually unbelievable for us, it's so so awesome she will get to experience everything she has worked hard for.

Love to you all!! 🙏 🌺
