BEARS QUEST AND ZEST FOR LIFE
Kia Ora all Bear lovers,
Everyone has said to start one of these pages to help Bear - so... finally here it is.
If you've come to Rarotonga you may have had your heart touched by BEAR as he visits you along the beach.
We are raising money for a dog wheelchair for him. Thanks to Jules from Ariki Bungalows we were able to do a test to see if he would like a dog wheelchair, and the past two weeks have shown great results! Absolutely thriving. He is chasing other dogs for the first time in years, out exploring, running to tourists and most importantly getting much needed exercise so he can loose weight to help his leg. He is a beach dog. Loves swimming in the ocean, hanging at resorts and restaurants, smoozing with tourists. With the wheelchair he goes for walks everyday and now barks at us to hurry up!
He is loved by many, he is not our dog but we are looking after his health and wellness, taking him to the vet and giving him anti inflams, kai etc.
We're asking for help to get him some medical products from NZ, supplements and wheels to give him a great chance of recovering, or to help give him a great last part of his life - as we need to see how the medicine goes from NZ once it arrives, as he is struggling some of the day to walk. He's hopping along, dragging his back leg sometimes. But still getting here and there.
We have treated his conjunctivitis and his flea infestation.
Check him out here;

Thanks so much for everyones contribution - Bear absolutely loved his wheels and they gave him the best last months. He was racing down the beach like a fog horn barking and barking "look at me look at me" and calling out to all his dog friends. And when I say running - it was more like a horse shooting out of the gates. So he made huge use of the wheels.
We had the vets come and check him out and his condition didn't improve, the poor guy when he was out of the wheelchair was dragging his leg and got to the stage where he couldn't stand up to have a poo, so the vets said it was time.
He had the most incredible send off. He had his mate gremlin giving him lots of kisses. He had loads of hugs, steak, another blat down the beach and passed over laying on my knee. I played my Maori instruments (taonga puoro) for him and he had the BEST sunset we have ever seen in Rarotonga and thanks to friends, he was laid to rest in one of his favourite spots he loved to hang out.
Bears wheels were donated to TE ARE MANU to help any other dogs who need it: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/eLZBQUa5Y6L9B4rB/
