With a heavy heart I tell you that Beau has drawn his last breath.

    Hi from Beau :)

Here I am, hiding from Mum under the chair cos I don't like my medicine :) xxx

Mum decided to add raw egg to my food yesterday and I look and feel better today.

If the weather stays fine, I'll be allowed outside :) xxx

  • Condition update

The Fur Baby Doctor's performed another Ultrasound and said that Beau's Heart/Lung/Chest area appears to be clear - so that's good news!

However, the mass was too large and blocking the valve to the small intestine, and his condition had deteriorated over the weekend so they wouldn't do a biopsy or tumour removal as it was too dangerous.

They have done needle aspirate instead with inconclusive results. :( and the best guess at this point is Lymphoma.

The good news is, if that is the case, Prednisone should reduce it sufficiently enough within the next week to alleviate the worst of the symptoms, hopefully allowing him to eat and toilet independently again and start his recovery.

So for now, I will continue to manually feed Beau every three hours, four times a day with liquidised food high fat high protein food with a vitamin B paste added. He will also continue to receive twice daily pain relief.

If this works, he should be functioning more normally come Monday.

It is now a waiting game...

    I'll update again soon.

In the meantime here is a photo of Beau when he was well, looking his regal and haughty best :)

I want to thank you all so much for your contributions so far.

I warms my heart to know there are so many generous people out there.

The cost has been mounting but you can't put a price on love.

Here is a sample of what your generous donations are achieving!

I have been quite busy tending to Beau with three hourly manual feedings (four times a day) and twice daily pain management, and twice daily medication plus Vitamin B paste - but I will post the update on his condition soon...

  • Scan and Biopsy

Thank you all for your help so far.

Beau's results are not all in yet and the news is a bit of a mixed bag.

The scan showed no masses in his heart/lungs/chest etc. which is good news.

However, the mass appears to be lymphoma.

Inoperable as it is too close to the small intestine valve, and possibly also in his lymph nodes at that location.

Chemotherapy (different in cats to humans - no hair loss or illness, but doesn't completely clear it either) is a possibility.

Awaiting the results of further blood tests and the biopsy taken today which will provide a clearer picture - which we should have by tomorrow.

    I'll update again then :)

    Love Kim & Beau

  • Making it through the long weekend :)

Beau intestinal mass was diagnosed on Thursday.

He can't be biopsied or scanned until Monday, and he is booked to go in between 8am and 9am under the veterinary care of McMasters and Heap.

Initially put on 10ml of liquidised ad (high protein and high fat) for a day, after his check up on Saturday this was increased to 150g over the day.

He had dropped from his usual summer weight of 5.5kg to a dangerous 3.5kg. Beau stopped eating because it put pressure on the mass and was painful for him.

The pain killers and the liquidised food have allowed him to regain some of his weight and as at today is back to 4.2kg!

If you are into holistic healing, prayer and/or intention setting, please ask for the mass to be non-cancerous, and shrinking so we can get him back to fighting fit.

Currently spending a little time in the sun, and some time resting - and doing a great imitation of his blanket :)

I'll update you as soon as I can.

    Love Kim & Beau xxx
