Helping a resilient young boy represent New Zealand on the world stage and show what belief, support, and determination can achieve.
Nationwide
Micheal is a nine year old boy who has already faced more challenges than most children ever should. For the first six years of life, Micheal lived through abuse, instability, and a series of unsuitable foster care placements. Instead of safety and consistency, his early childhood was marked by uncertainty and harm at the hands of people who were meant to protect him.
Everything changed when Micheal came into the care of his dads, who are now his legal guardians and provide his day to day care. For the first time, Micheal experienced stability, love, and a safe place to belong. With this foundation, he has been able to begin healing, grow in confidence, and discover his own strengths.
Karate became Micheal’s anchor. It gave him discipline, structure, and a way to channel his determination. Despite living with ADHD, Michael works incredibly hard both on the mat and at school, and over the past year he has made remarkable progress.
Micheal has now been selected to represent New Zealand as part of the GKR Karate Team at the World Cup in England in 2026. This is an extraordinary achievement for any child, and even more so for a boy who has had to fight for every step forward.
The cost of travel and accommodation for Micheal and one parent is significant, beyond what our whānau can manage on a single income. Every donation helps make this once in a lifetime opportunity possible and sends Michael a powerful message that his future is brighter than his past.
Thank you from Micheal
We are Michael’s legal guardians and provide his day to day care as his dads.
Funds will cover flights for Michael and his papa to Telford, United Kingdom, accommodation, local transport, tournament fees, passport costs, daily expenses, and a small reward trip to a theme park to celebrate his achievements.
