Help Beck on his recovery from liver failure
Brooklyn, Wellington
UPDATE:
After the trip home and things slowly looking up a little bit. Beck ended up having a round of seizures again. We didn't lose hope and the Specialist kept saying that time will tell. Unfortunately Becks seizures didn't stop and they became constant. Diane had to make the hardest decision of her life and help Beck cross the rainbow bridge. Never an easy decision and one of the hardest things we need to do as dog guardians.
You can still donate towards Diane's massive vet bills and if you'd like to send her your love and support, I'm sure she would absolutely appreciate that. We are all a bit sad about losing Beck but want to be here for Diane and the pain she is going through.
At the end of November, Beck, the Australian Kelpie, had a seizure and lost control of his bowels. The Wellington vets said there was a blockage in his liver, which was caused by a buildup of toxins. They treated him as best they could, but he needed specialist care.
Diane rushed him to the liver specialist in Auckland. Beck had two more focal seizures on the journey to Auckland, and arrived at the specialist on Nov 30th in a very poor state - his liver had stopped working completely.
Once arriving at the specialist, Beck was incubated to stop the seizures. With his liver failure, he was given a 30% chance of survival. Beck had a biopsy and ultrasound which showed an enlarged liver. Cancer and Hepatitis were ruled out. Sadly, this morning we lost Beck.
Beck & Brisket (my kelpie) are best bros since they were young. Diane and I are great friends, and she is a dedicated dog-mom doing everything she can to help her boy

Thank you so much for all your kind words and donations 15 January 2025
A final message from Di - "Watching Beck when he was sick and racing him to Auckland was really hard. Everyone was so nice, but it was a lonely journey, and it needed to be lonely so I could be there 100% for Beck.
The messages and the donations reminded me I wasn't alone. Beck taught me so much, and I feel like his last lesson was that it's ok to ask for help, and I have incredible friends"
Thank you so much
