International season update
25 August 2023Hi everyone,
Just an update on how my international season went now that I am back home in Dunedin!
I ran 10 races in total and ran 9 lifetime bests! I was able to run a new personal best in the 1500m of 4.11.49 and more than that, the experience I gained racing overseas was invaluable!
I came so close to achieving my goal of qualifying for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest which are currently happening right now (my ranking in the 1500m was 59th in the world and I needed to be in the top 56). While it stings a little bit to watch the championships through the tv at home, I am feeling satisfied with where I am at and more confident than ever for qualifying for the Paris Olympics in 2024!
I have more direction of what level I need to be at and what funding I need to compete well domestically and then again internationally next season.
It really does take a village to achieve at the highest level and I am beyond thankful for your support in helping me to fund my international season! The financial support enabled me to travel to obscure places to get into the right races and to be overseas for 10 weeks. I cannot thank you guys enough and I am already back into training for next year :)
Much love,
Becky.
