Becky's fundraiser for an international track season in 2023

$2,545 donated
Given by 53 generous donors in 5 weeks

This fundraiser is to help me reach my running goals of qualifying for the World Championships in 2023 and the Olympic Games in 2024.

Otago

Thank you for donating to my fundraiser, your support is beyond appreciated!

My goals of this international track season are to qualify for the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest in the 1500m. To do this I need to travel overseas to compete in World Athletics bronze, silver and gold meets to give me the best opportunity to grab some valuable world ranking points and to run FAST! The qualifying period for the 2024 Paris Olympics opens on July 1st 2023, so being overseas racing during this time will enable me to kick start my campaign to qualify for the Olympics next year.

Being a self-funded athlete and with the exorbitant cost of travel at the moment, I am estimating this overseas track season to cost approximately $10,000 (flights, accommodation, race entry fees, transport to and from races and training facility usage). Any help towards these costs would be amazing.

Thank you again for your support and happy running :)

Use of funds

The proceeds of this fundraiser will go towards funding my international track season in 2023 - flights, accommodation, race entry fees, transport to and from races and training facility usage.

International season update  25 August 2023

Hi everyone,

Just an update on how my international season went now that I am back home in Dunedin!

I ran 10 races in total and ran 9 lifetime bests! I was able to run a new personal best in the 1500m of 4.11.49 and more than that, the experience I gained racing overseas was invaluable!

I came so close to achieving my goal of qualifying for the World Athletics Championships in Budapest which are currently happening right now (my ranking in the 1500m was 59th in the world and I needed to be in the top 56). While it stings a little bit to watch the championships through the tv at home, I am feeling satisfied with where I am at and more confident than ever for qualifying for the Paris Olympics in 2024!

I have more direction of what level I need to be at and what funding I need to compete well domestically and then again internationally next season.

It really does take a village to achieve at the highest level and I am beyond thankful for your support in helping me to fund my international season! The financial support enabled me to travel to obscure places to get into the right races and to be overseas for 10 weeks. I cannot thank you guys enough and I am already back into training for next year :)

Much love,

Becky.
