Please help my children and I fundraise enough money to get our beautiful dog Bella new knees (and hopefully another 10 years with us).
Wellington
We adopted the beautiful Bella from the SPCA in 2014. She was chosen for her sweet and gentle nature. Our children were only little (1 and 3 years old), and we wanted a fur baby who would grow up with the children, and be part of the family for years to come.
Sadly the next year, our marriage fell apart and I became a solo mum to my two children and Bella (my third!).
In 2016 Bella started showing signs of having problems with her legs. We took her to the beach and after chasing sticks in the sea for an hour we noticed she was lame that night. This started to happen on a regular basis, and is now at the point where I can't walk her on a lead for more than 10 minutes without her being in serious pain.
It turns out Bella is suffering from cruciate ligament disease and also has luxating patellas or in plain English, her knees keep popping in and out of the sockets causing inflammation, pain and preventing her from being able to put pressure on her legs and walk properly.
She needs surgery on both legs to fix her condition, which includes inserting titanium implants. The vet has quoted $10,000 for the surgery. I have spoken to the children about our options and it's clear that we want to try and help Bella get better. We chose her, and she has delivered on her promise of being that precious member of our family we wanted from the start.
As a single Mum who works full time, it's still hard to make ends meet, let alone having to try and find $10,000. We have set up this Givealittle page and any donation towards this surgery would be amazing, and would be seriously appreciated by me and my children (and Bella!)
Thank you xx
My 3 year old Hunterway X dog Bella needs surgery to have her back knees replaced. She's only 3 and is the sweetest dog ever, loved by myself and my two young children. I'm a single mum and can't afford the $10,000 cost of surgery :-(
Surgery to have two knee operations. If it doesn't go to plan or we get excess money we will donate the money to HUHA and the SPCA.
