Bella has been granted the incredible opportunity to perform at Shakespeare's Globe in 2019. Please help her make this dream a reality.
Auckland
This year, I am incredibly grateful to have been selected, alongside 23 other talented students from throughout New Zealand, to be part of the 2019 Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand Young Shakespeare Company (SGCNZ YSC). This opportunity entails an amazing trip across the world to the UK, where we will collaborate with theatre professionals to participate in various workshops and courses, as well as perform on Shakespeare's Globe stage in London. This is such a mind-blowing opportunity that I still cannot completely comprehend, and it is definitely an experience I do not want to miss out on.
Of course, getting into this company was a journey, and one that I embarked on in early February 2018, when rehearsals began for my student directed Richard III scene, playing the role of Queen Margaret. This year was my first year entering the SGCNZ University of Otago Sheilah Winn Shakespeare Regionals, and I competed in North Auckland, alongside my two close friends in the roles of Lady Anne and Richard. After performing, I was soon notified of my Direct Entry into the National Shakespeare Schools' Production 2018, a major shock that lead to an unforgettable week alongside 47 immensely talented New Zealand students, and I was delighted to be selected from that group to be part of the 2019 SGCNZ YSC, informed to me by none other than the lovely CEO, Dawn Sanders. I am humbled and truly honoured to have accepted this offer.
Getting to London, however, is no easy feat, and this is where I need your help! By early June next year, I need to have raised around $9,000 (covering travel, accommodation, food, tickets, and course and workshop fees) for this incredible 2 week experience, otherwise I may not be able to obtain this opportunity. I will be working in various other ways over the next 8 months to reach this objective, but, if possible in any way, your loving donations would help significantly.
By the time I leave for London in 2019, I will be approaching my second trimester at Victoria University of Wellington, studying a conjoint degree of a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Theatre and Sociology within the latter. My adoration, passion and appreciation for the performing arts has blossomed over my time at school, hence why I intend to study over the next 5 years within my tertiary education. The wealth and richness of knowledge embedded in this experience is incomparable, and I cannot wait to see what follows it in the upcoming years.
Every little bit counts, thank you so much for your time and generosity. Please share this page to help me out even further!
The $9000 required for this trip will go directly towards travel costs, accommodation, course and workshop fees, tickets, food, and daily living expenses. Any excess money will be donated to Shakespeare Globe Centre New Zealand.
