One of these brothers needs lifesaving surgery, I am calling all who believed these boys deserved their freedom. Every dollar counts.

Canterbury

A beautiful steer, once living among tall buildings, on a mere few acres in the heart of the city, with his two brothers. Constant visitors would bring treats of all kinds, endless pats, and comfort. They lived a life many others only dreamed of, until the short, but sweet years passed by, until eventually their young bodies grew big, too big for the small slice of land to maintain. So of course, with little thought, the first course of action was to send this beautiful boy and his brothers to be killed. Of course, wasn't that what they were intended for?

Once this daunting decision was publicized, these boys had a large, human family behind them. Phone call after phone call, email after email, and comment after comment, giving the many, and endless reasons for these three precious souls to be saved from the kill floor that would be their fate, the word began to spread. At first, everyone was told they are made for this, they are not pets, they are to be eaten. The mission was simple, to bring these beloved brothers to their safety. They ended up within slaughterhouse walls, the point where they could smell what was coming, but one slaughter house worker showed a hand of kindness, and that was that. The country had spoken, these boys, without fail, had ignited a fire among New Zealanders that perhaps these animals we consume on a daily basis, are not so different from our household companions, the ones we love and cherish.

Without fail, the good side of humanity had brought three boys out from under the industrialized system, and sealed their fate, of which would be freedom. With a truck ride back to safety, their long hall travels were booked for the following week.

With that, they safely landed at the sanctuary, to start their new life, among other animals who share similar stories, where they are always together, side by side, where they remain brothers.

These boys need our help again, I am calling all who believed these boys deserved their freedom.

One of these darling boys has a tumor growing. He has had treatment of antibiotics to reduce any swelling, or added infection, but the prognosis is clear. He needs lifesaving surgery, otherwise the tumor will grow, increasing his chances of further infection, and stopping him from functioning normally, which will mean he will need to be laid to rest. We cannot let this happen, we have to fight like we did back when they were saved those many months ago.

Any donations left over will be used for the ongoing care of the animals here at the rescue.

If you can help this brother of three, it is hugely appreciated, every dollar counts.

Thank you for the amazing on going support, without it, these boys, and the countless others would not be here today.

Thank you, on behalf of the Kelmarna brothers.
