Ben and Friends album fundraiser

Welcome to the “Ben and friends” fundraiser for our album “Shadow and Snow, Briar and Smog” now in production. The songs have been written by me - Ben Johnson-Frow - largely during a month long scholarship retreat at Vaughan Park in Auckland. They are now being brought to life by a community of creatives who are also friends and we are hoping to crowd fund the album through the generosity of the community and friends who surround us.

For those of you who know me and have enjoyed my music in the past, there is a slight disclaimer. This album will be a bit different. These songs have been beneath the surface for a long time now and share some of the personal struggles I have contending for faith hope and love within myself, even when as a church leader I am seeking to be someone who helps bring faith hope and love to others. There is a fairly full range of feelings on display, but while that feels pretty vulnerable I think it’s ok. The Bible contains a similar range of emotions in its own songbook - the Psalms. In fact those of you who read the Bible will still very much find my story grounded in the imagery, stories and songs of scripture.

Thank you for considering supporting this project and getting it made. It’s pretty humbling to think of sharing something so personal and see it brought to life by gifted and creative people supported by the love and belief of so many friends in a community who care.
