Hey everyone, with the Give A Little page coming to an end I just wanted to say a massive thank you! I am lucky enough to be able to go ahead with my immunotherapy treatment and hopefully be starting in the coming months. The support and generosity not only from friends and family but from people I have not met is crazy. I appreciate everything team.

Hey everyone, what a massive effort put in by so many to raise awareness about looking out for one another and donating such an awesome amount of coin to help support Ben, Lauren and Arlo.

Everyone involved with fundraising activities and everyone that has donated, it’s absolutely bloody amazing!

And Ben - this guy is being put through the wringer! and it blows me away that he has maintained his fantastic attitude, positivity, and strength from within.

Ben has even been getting some time back in the gym to push us all along and keep us motivated! What a guy.

The donations have been huge and will help so much, so Ben has decided that we will let the Givealittle page run to its closing date this Saturday 30th at 11.59pm.

So anyone who was thinking about donating please get them in before then.

    THANKYOU everyone!

  • The Great Shave Off

The Great Shave Off was on Sunday and it was an awesome afternoon in the sun with a lot of laughs and good times with great people!

We had 11 participated in the shave off with some of the kids stepping into the barber’s role and thoroughly enjoyed cutting their dads hair! Ben’s mum also dyed her hair pink and had a heart shaped into one side.

All the support so far has been incredible!!! Thank you to everyone who has donated and participated in July’s individual challenges, raising funds and awareness.

Please share, we hope to keep the momentum and donations rolling in, thank you.

Thank you for all the support so far, its incredible!!!

As part of our efforts to support Ben and his family we had a Crazy Cut which was a lot of laughs! Our hope is to get some sideways looks and questions, starting conversations to raise some more awareness around looking out for one another, and getting further donations hitting the Givealittle account.

Tune in next Sunday when about 10 blokes lose all their hair, and a few beards go to auction to have them removed too!

And, some of the ladies sporting funky colours and cuts!

  • Today's news after oncologist meeting.

      12 July 2023
    Posted by: Ben McGillivray

Hey all, a bit of an update with me cancer after my oncology meeting today.

CT scans I had on Friday last week came back with a good news. My tumors in my throat were still the same size in length, but were skinnier.

The bone cancer came back with a change in colour, which shows that the treatment has worked on them also.

There was some suspicious lymphnods they thought had cancer (first I've talked about it now). My lymphnodes were 9mm before treatment and are now 6mm so that's another goodie.

I was tested for non funded treatment, I had to be above 10% for compatibility. I was 15% so I have been accepted for that also 😊

I have asked to stay on the harsh FLOT chemo and not move to the unfunded stuff for a bit longer as I feel I have more to give down that road before the immunotherapy (non funded), which will be my first line (main treatment) and the chemo would be the second line (no longer FLOT but another type of chemo).

They are possibly thinking about radiotherapy down the road if need be as the ability to swollow has for some reason back tracked. But will just keep an eye on things for the mean time.

That is all I have at this stage. Which I am happy about!

Hi everyone, thank you for your generous donations. I'm very lucky to have the support network around me that I do. I will try my best to keep an update of treatment and how things are going on this page. Again, thank you.
