Half way through the regatta and tomorrow we head to the start of the finals. South Island are big competitors with big boys, despite that our boys have dug deep and tried their hardest. Rory’s double missed out by 2seconds, his eight just missed out on an A final but his quad stood very strong and are in a B final. There has been some great learning for these boys, great friendships made and excellent support from the Tauranga coaches, staff and families. We wish all the competitors all the best and we will cheer you on through to the end of what has been an excellent regatta. 💪👏❤️

We are in the final week of preparation for the big event. Rowers are out twice a day training and are in those final trainings where it all matters. This is what Rory has worked so hard to get to training tirelessly, fundraising and working in between and going to school. So focused and dedicated to a sport that he loves and is yet so challenging. Without everyone’s support for this Rory might not have been able to go. We thank everyone who has supported him in his journey. Our goal was $2300 we have raised $1420 to date. Our page will remain open for support as we countdown to the end of next week.

Rory is training early mornings and after school often while many of us are still asleep or relaxing at home for the evening. His dedication and never give up attitude is to be commended. He has always struggled to find his place in a sport but he’s been rowing for six years and his determination and desire to succeed is admirable. He never moans he gets up at 4am sometimes six days a week. He will be at the water 6.30am to 6.30pm on a training day at times. He will go when he sometimes feels a little off because he loves it and only wants to get better. We have now just under three weeks to go till the Aon Maadi Cup Regatta begins, we have raised just over half the funds to get Rory there. We have $900 still to raise. We are truely grateful to the many people that have donated funds we are all humbled by your kindness and generosity. Let’s get these boys and there crews there and help Tauranga Boys College Rowing Club take part in an amazing event. Rory has dreams of bigger things too, watch the space as his inspiration and strength continues to grow. Thank you to the many of you we can’t thank in person but know we have been touched and you are appreciated☺️.
