Benefaction for Rory to participate at the 2024 Aon Maadi Rowing Regatta

Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty

I am requesting a donation for our son, Rory McKenzie, to participate in the 2024 Aon Maadi Regatta. The Aon Maadi Regatta is the National Championships for school rowing in New Zealand. Run by the NZSSRA and Rowing New Zealand, it is New Zealand’s largest rowing regatta. South Island Rowing will host the 2024 New Zealand Secondary School Championships (Aon Maadi Regatta) at Lake Ruataniwha from March 18 – 23, 2024.

Rory has been selected to represent Tauranga Boys College Rowing Club at the 2024 Aon Maadi Regatta. The cost involved to participate in this prestigious event is estimated at $2300, which needs to be paid in full by early March 2024. This funding will be used to cover flights between Tauranga and Twizel and for accommodation for the duration of the event.

Unfortunately, the lack of funds will force the volunteer coaches to change the selected crews and inevitably prevent Rory and or others from participating in the event.

Rory’s event results can be accessed online at https://rowit.nz/mads2024/profile.

This information can be verified by contacting the teacher in charge, Ms. Tanya Williams, at t.williams@tbc.school.nz.

Winning medals is good, racing is better, loving the sport is best!

Thank you for all the support ❤️   21 March 2024

Half way through the regatta and tomorrow we head to the start of the finals. South Island are big competitors with big boys, despite that our boys have dug deep and tried their hardest. Rory’s double missed out by 2seconds, his eight just missed out on an A final but his quad stood very strong and are in a B final. There has been some great learning for these boys, great friendships made and excellent support from the Tauranga coaches, staff and families. We wish all the competitors all the best and we will cheer you on through to the end of what has been an excellent regatta. 💪👏❤️

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
