Help with my boy Biggies vet bill. He's had to have urgent surgery to save his life and I need help paying the bill and aftercare once home.
Auckland
Went to vet with what we thought was one problem, turned out to be more.
Biggie was rescued and taken vet to be fixed and adopted out. Unfortunately due to his age and not being a cute kitten no one wanted him and the vet was going to put him to sleep. My brother in law stepped in and brought him (his girlfriend and the kids who were also facing the same fate) home to live at our place.
Roll forward 5ish years, Biggie was having trouble peeing. He was straining so hard but nothing but a drop was coming out. He was in a lot of pain, calling out when he tried. He even growled at me whenever I tried to touch him when usually he loves attention. He was taken to vet for treatment. I assumed hed only need meds and be home but turned out to be more. He had to have a catheter inserted (this took a while for the vet to do due to 2 obstructions/blockages) and he had all his teeth removed (vet tried to clean and save them but they were breaking). He has had his bladder flushed twice today and will have it done again tomorrow. Hopefully he will be back tomorrow afternoon/evening. He may even be there till Wednesday.
Due to now having no teeth, he is needing a special diet of wet food pouches from the vet. Hope to be for about a week but could be long term.
Vet bill is expected to be quite high but unsure of amount. Could very well be over $1000
Biggie is my furbaby.
pay the vet bill and for aftercare (new food that he is needing).
Biggie's home 22 November 2017
Biggie is so pleased to be home and I'm so ecstatic that he is not only home but that he will be ok.
Luckily the bill was not over $1,000.00 like I originally expected but pretty close (It came to $873.54). Our amazing vet Maree is letting us do a payment plan which is so fantastic as there is no way I could have come up with that kind of money.
As expected he is now on a special diet, not for a few weeks but for the rest of his life. Royal Canin urinary s/o food. No more whiskas or friskies for him.
He will be inside for the next couple of days, maybe longer.
