Unexpected turns lead to unexpected situations
Whangaparaoa, Auckland
Biju and family have been gathering every stone to build their family in New Zealand for the past few years. Like many of us, Biju & Simy, started their life in New Zealand after their studies and have been working in the health sector as health care assistants for the past 5 years on work visas, managing their lives quite effectively. Due to Visa regulations and the pandemic, after many years of wait, they just managed to get their two children from Kerala, India just in November 2021. The whole picture flipped around when Biju had an unexpected fall while he was affected with Covid and associated health ailments. He is still in an unresponsive state even after 3 weeks of critical intensive care treatment at Auckland Hospital. As per the current diagnosis of his brain injury, he is expected to face long term rehabilitation treatment in the future to attain his normal life back. Over the years, this hardworking couple have had to face major financial commitments in planning a bright future and bringing their small family together, which is backed up prominently by bank loans on top of their daily expenses here. At this stage, Biju requires close attentive care and it is uncertain when Simy can resume work. With no immediate family here in NZ, they are immensely in need of support from kind hearts to survive this unexpected situation. The bright future that they had dreamed of is all looking uncertain as the family are still on temporary work visas.
A great friend, full of energy and life, always willing to help and a wonderful tenant
Rehabilitation, day to day living, on going commitments
Status update 28 June 2022
Prayers never go unheard. Biju’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported them and included them in their prayers which they believe helped them to alleviate their hardship. They share their happiness in getting Biju out of the critical care ICU to a step down ward where he is managed to maintain his current progress and getting him ready to go for further rehabilitation services. Though he shows signs of improvement on his movement, we are not in a stage to see how far his memory has improved. His family needs your continued prayers & support for his recovery. Once again, Thanking you every one for your immense support and prayers which made Biju to come back to his life.
