Hi, my name is Carl and I’m crazy mad about biking! So much so that I’m about to embark on a 3,000km self-supported mountain bike ride as part of the Tour Aotearoa event (www.touraotearoa.nz).
Departing from Cape Reinga on 23 February, I’m hoping to complete the ride to Bluff in under 20 days and raise money for the ‘Bikes in Schools’ programme (http://bikeon.org.nz/ /bikesinschools.html). It’s all about helping Kiwi kids to get on bikes and consequently improving their health, fitness, skill levels, confidence and self-esteem.
Bikes in Schools already benefits more than 35 schools and 10,000 children.
Make a real difference to some young lives - lets ensure that they have a safe place to learn and practice riding and also instill in them the same passion that many of us have for biking.
I’m keen to encourage anyone in their love for biking. Getting kids involved from an early age has positive results, that’s why I chose to raise money and awareness for the ‘Bikes in Schools’ programme. I like the idea of kids having a safe environment to ride in and good equipment to learn on.
