Standing With Billy on His Road to Recovery
Otago
Billy is a cheeky, fun‑loving 15‑year‑old farm kid who lives and loves life at full speed. A week ago, everything changed when Billy was hit by a car while riding his motorbike, leaving him fighting for his life.
Billy suffered brain injury and multiple fractures from head to toe. He was airlifted in critical condition from Dunedin to Christchurch, where he has bravely fought his way out of ICU and is now recovering in the Children’s High Care Unit. The road ahead is long - with multiple surgeries, months of rehabilitation, and the hard work of learning to walk and move again.
As Billy heals, his South Otago family are far from home, facing ongoing travel, specialist care, and rehabilitation needs once he returns to Dunedin. Mum Kylie and the family have been by Billy’s side every step, supported by the incredible Ronald McDonald House during this devastating time.
This fundraiser is to help ease the burden on Billy and his family as they focus on his recovery. Any funds not required for Billy’s care will be donated to Ronald McDonald House, supporting other families when they need it most.
Thank you for supporting Billy’s journey back to the life he loves. 💛
Kylie is a close friend and Billy’s mum. At this heartbreaking time, we’re doing whatever we can to help lighten their load and relieve some of the financial stress.
Your support will help cover fuel, accommodation, unfunded medical costs, and living expenses, easing financial pressure while Billy’s Mum takes time away from work to be by his side throughout recovery.
