Birkenhead Playcentre - Not your typical fundraiser

$1,325 donated
Given by 41 generous donors in 6 weeks

We are cleaning up parks and reserves in Birkenhead as a fundraiser -to help us create a unique natural play environment in our playcentre!

Auckland

Our children love exploring the parks & bush around our beautiful suburb. At Birkenhead Playcentre we value our natural environment and make an effort to reuse, recycle & compost where we can.

Instead of trying to sell ‘things’ as a typical fundraiser would, we have decided that we want to try and make a difference to our local community and ask for your support!

We will be exploring our local parks (including: Onepoto domain, Birkenhead War Memorial Park, Le Roys Bush & Shepherds Park ) over the week 20- 26th July 2015 and cleaning up, by picking up rubbish.

This will have two keys benefits, firstly our children will have fun exploring the outdoors and secondly we will leave the parks and bush in a better condition than we found it! Its win-win!

We ask that you support us by making a donation big or small. We know in these tough times that every dollar counts- and so we value any contribution you are able to make :)

Any money received will go a long way to helping improve the experience of the children at Birkenhead Playcentre.

Specifically, we have a project to improve our outdoor bank area- it is currently an unused slope area, and we have a plan to create a punga koru to enable the children to play & hide in this space, to create a mock-river bed with a hand driven pump for water play. We already have our own rain tank to provide the water! Funds are required for getting plans drawn & finalized, purchasing the materials and getting skilled people to put it all together so we have a quality outdoor play environment for our tamariki!

THANK YOU!!!  27 July 2015

We have finished our big clean up week - and collected many many bags of rubbish leaving our local parks sparkling :) It was such a positive thing to be part of- the children really got into the spirit and we now know lots about he kinds of litter our society leaves around (- a lot of it is recyclable so that has been fantastic to get done!)

We are blown away by the support you have all given us on this project- it means a lot to us. Thank you to everyone who has made a contribution- it really will go a long way to helping our wonderful Birkenhead Playcentre children enjoy more playing outside :)
