My Dad, “Manny” to his friends, “Nonong” to his family, has survived the greatest crisis in his life.
Last 2016, it was found that my Dad has multiple aneurysms: aortic, abdominal and renal. His aortic valve wasn’t closing anymore so he had to undergo open heart surgery for an aortic valve replacement. He has been living his life more carefully knowing the risks of someone with aneurysm(s) ever since.
Last 16 August 2023, Dad complained of severe low back pain & found to have his previously 3cm aneurysm grow to a massive 9cm one. He was blessed in so many ways that it did not rupture. Apparently he’s been having the pains for a month already & brushed it off as muscle strains.
He had to undergo Endovascular Aneurysm Repair which went successfully despite how challenging it was as per the surgeons. We were hoping for a fast steady recovery however we are encountering multiple bumps along the way.
During our stay in ICU, he developed Pneumonia & Congestion. His hemoglobin levels weren’t as stable too so he had to get multiple transfusions. Now he has become jaundiced and his bilirubin levels are elevated. Now, his thighs are swollen & they’re worried of blood clots because he’s been off his warfarin since the surgery.
My family are asking for some small help financially so we can continue the treatment that my Dad needs in the Philippines. We believe that God saved him because he hasn’t fulfilled his purpose yet & my Dad’s determined to get better to give back the blessings.
Our family dynamic is not the usual, but my dad has always been selfless in showing his love for us siblings.
All donations received will go straight to pay for my Dad’s hospital bills and medications.
Dad’s Road to Recovery 4 September 2023
Dad experienced quite a number of bumps after his surgery. Unfortunately, he had Pneumonia, Congestion , Jaundice, CLABSI, swelling of his both legs and unexplained fevers despite antibiotics. It was rough on him and he felt low for some time just wanting to sleep whole day. But now that the fevers have finally left him and all his contraptions have been removed, he’s feeling more determined to get better. He has been more upbeat and his drive to be back to his independent self has been more evident. We are looking forward to getting discharged this week, if everything goes smoothly. 🙏🏼❤️
My Dad sends his heartfelt appreciation to all of your kindness in praying and supporting us in this difficult times. You all have played a big part in his recovery. Thank you so much! May God continue to bless us always. 🥰🥰🥰
