Helping raise money for Oxfam New Zealand
Canterbury
We are a group of walkers, participating in next years Oxfam Trailwalk in Whakatane. For those that don't know, this is a 100 km walk in 36 hours (or 50 km's over 18 hours, but really? It's go hard or go home, right??) over terrain, rain or shine. Light and dark.
Each team is expected to raise a minimum of $2500. Our group will likely consist of at least 3 teams. That means we have a large fundraising goal to achieve, so every little bit counts.
On top of this, we need to raise money to get at least 12 walkers and support staff to Whakatane, as well as purchase appropriate equipment.
Oxfam Trailwalker is an annual fundraising event organised and promoted by Oxfam New Zealand. We believe a fairer, safer, more sustainable world is possible. By being part of our work through Oxfam Trailwalker you are helping people live a life of hope and opportunity.
We work with local communities and global organisations to tackle the root causes of poverty in three ways:
Helping people help themselves.
Providing people with access to the skills and resources necessary to earn a decent living, to have clean water, health and education, and to have a voice in their community.
Responding to emergencies.
In disaster or conflict, we act quickly to save lives and help survivors recover.
Influencing decision-makers.
From local food suppliers to the Beehive or the UN, we campaign to change the unjust practices and policies that keep people in poverty.
