Auckland

I came across Bob in a Display Pond at my local hardware store, bloated to the size of a tennis ball, floating upside down and looking very near death. I said to the staff that he didn't look well, and they said they believed he was on his last legs.

I couldn't stop thinking about Bob, so 5 days later I went back to check if he was still there and he was! I asked if I could take him and attempt to get him better as it looked like he had severe swim bladder issues. They had no idea what was wrong with him, thinking he was just fat or pregnant. They agreed to let me take him and see if anything could be done.

Bob came home with me and began to fast for 4 days, followed by a Jenny Craig diet of shelled peas in the hopes this would help him pass any blockages. Unfortunately things became apparent to be more severe, and Bob has required a veterinary consultation, xrays, and removal of 15ml of fluid from his abdomen at a total cost of $300.

With the removal of this excess fluid, Bob is noticeably less rotund and clearly more comfortable, he is now swimming the right way up!. My aim is now to pay off the vet bills and let Bob live out the rest of his life in comfort. If you would like to donate towards Bobs medical bills, even a small amount will help :)
