Studying to become a Registered Nurse
Auckland
My name is Hannah. I became a registered Nurse in Philippines last 2010. A year after, Michael, my husband, wanted me to come live with him here in New Zealand. But just 6 months after I came here, my mom in Philippines died of liver cancer. I was able to take care of my mom during her suffering from cancer, and that made me want to pursue my nursing career. I got really depressed and was off from work for over a year.
When I got back here in NZ, nursing council has decided to increase the number of working experience which I did not meet the requirement. I then went to Unitec to ask if they can doing a cross crediting, which they confirmed. But I have to get my papers approved to NZQA which I waited for almost a year to get the results, and when I got the results I immediately submitted it to Unitec but I wasn't able to make the cut off for last year's enrolment. This year, I just got the good news that I can be enrolled in the nursing program for SY 2016, but the Bad News is I didn't passed the cross crediting criteria. That will make me have to study the whole 3 years. Which means I can't work and I won't be able to get student loan, not until I reached the 3 year mark of being a permanent resident. So this is where I'm stuck, I am so close of becoming a nurse, so with your help guys. I am asking a huge favour to givealittle and this I PROMISE you. Once I become a nurse, I will give my best to take care all my patients. And of course, I will pay it forward.
In memory of my mom, I will try everything to get my registration here in NZ.
